CONTEMPORARY
· What is considered contemporary art? Why?
Contemporary art is considered as art, which had begun in the year 1970’s and still to this very day is still on going. Contemporary art had essentially followed on from the era of modern art, it is considered as contemporary art mainly because of the time period modern and contemporary are based from, modern which had begun earlier than contemporary art in the 1860’s till the 1970’s and from that contemporary art was considered after 1970’s.
· What materials and techniques are commonly used within contemporary art?
Within contemporary art, artists involved in this art movement often use a variety of materials and techniques to create their artworks, some materials and techniques involved include; technology such as computers, three-dimensional, performances, photographers, other materials used in this movement are also, wood, paper, paint, rice, pollen, wax, plaster, stone, glass, metal, plastics, etc.
· Why do artists choose to use these materials and techniques?
The reason as to why artists of the contemporary art movement use materials and techniques such as the examples listed above, is because the movement of contemporary art is aiming to shock the audience by revolving towards new art forms
· What are the key subject matters explored?
In contemporary art the main key subject matters explored within this subject matter involve, how artists in the contemporary art movement have gone through and faced strict reality, which means they have been through the time when war was happening such as the cold war and WW||, and adding on globalisation. Going through the strict reality it has inspired and influenced the ideas of contemporary art for artists in this movement, as well as the variety of materials and techniques used to create their artworks.

TRADITIONAL
One type of traditional art is art that is from times in history where artists painted significant people as a portrait. This type of painting was used to express the persons power or significance. This type of painting was consisted of dull colours on a canvas as it was some of the only materials they could find but also it provided a sort of serious look to the subject.
Another other type is going way back to tribal paintings such as tattoos, other forms of body art and works that present some types of stories (e.g. Dream time paintings, Australian Aboriginals). This type of traditional art used only materials and tools from the environment as they were the only supplies that they had. Tribal paintings were used for a number of reasons but one of the main ones was to show the their status in the tribe.
